East Oahu consists of the area directly east of the center of Honolulu, beginning at the Wai'alae Country Club and extending east to Makapu'u Point, the easternmost point on the island of Oahu. It consists of mostly upscale neighborhoods starting with Waialae moving east to Aina Hina, Hawaii Loa Ridge, Nui Valley to one of the first planned communities Hawaii Kai. In the 1950s, much of this area was farm land that gradually gave way to urbanization and home development. There is a diverse choice of housing available - condominiums for first time buyers and luxury condominiums ranging in price from the $300,000s to several million dollars. Townhomes and other multi-family developments are also prevalent with prices ranging from $500,000 to several million dollars. Single-family homes range from $1,000,000 to $15,000,000.
